All of these annual holiday events are a great way to come to the St. Mary's Home to help volunteer and spend time with the kids! Most of these are presented as Family Engagement activities for family members of residents at the Home.
Helping with Clubs:
You can come to the Home to help with fun clubs that St. Mary's provides for the kids such as a make-up and outfit club, yearbook club, photography club, animal lovers after-school club, and more!
NEW RECYCLING CHALLENGE!
There is an exciting new adventure that Albero House is starting on Monday, September 1st. We will be doing a Recycling Challenge with NexTrex to get a bench for the Albero House courtyard. We plan to do this to build many benches around St. Mary's! Our goal is to collect 1,000 lbs. of plastic in the next 12 months to have our bench made. We would love for you all to participate in the amazing adventure we are taking! Clean the Library:
You are able to come to the library located in the reception area of St. Mary's Home to clean and organize for the kids!
Chalk the Walk:
This is a fun activity that involves decorating a sidewalk with colorful chalk to bring smiles to the children's faces as they walk out to see your beautiful art pieces!
Family Fun in a bag:
This includes donating different activities and fun games for the kids and their families to enjoy when they come to visit them! Activities are based around a theme such as surfing, barnyard, space, animals and more and include scavenger hunts, safe games, crafts and dropped to the Home for staff to coordinate and enjoy.
Sensory Books/Boards:
You are always welcome to donate sensory book or boards for the kids or make a little gift basket with different items for the kids to use to play. These can include different illustrated books, simple board games, or other fun easy toys to enjoy!
Audio Books/ Power Points:
Another idea is to record yourself reading a book or making a short slideshow based off a book to donate to St. Mary's for kids to enjoy!
Emotional Cue Cards:
You are able to create fun emotional cue cards for the children to use. These includes pictures and feelings on them, so the kids are able to point out how they are feeling. Please see link below for examples:

Bulletin Board Kits:
You are also able to assemble "bulletin board kits" that include borders/outline paper and different pictures based on the season or holiday. This will help the staff to easily place them onto the bulletin boards by theme such as seasons, holidays and more! Greeting cards and wide ribbon donations are helpful for this project.
Lemonade Stand or Hot Chocolate Stand:
Having a lemonade, hot chocolate, or any type of stand is a great way to earn money to donate to St. Mary's!
Create or Donate Arts and Crafts:
If you have an artistic talent at all, this a great way to show your masterpieces and give these kids something creative and fun to have and look at.
Donate Birthday:
Instead of getting presents this year, you can ask all of your friends to donate money to St. Mary's instead! Kid2Kid has raised over $1,000 this way.
Cork and Origami Angels for the Holidays:
Another D.I.Y. art project is to create fun cork and/or origami angels for the holidays. These can be easily made, and the children would love these!
Wish List for the home:
Check out our WISH LIST on the Home page! It includes many different items that can be donated to St. Mary's!
Book drive:
If you are thinking of donating some of your books, think about donating them to St. Mary's! Gather your friends or people around your community to host a book drive to give books to St. Mary's kids!
